Throughout this course I would say that my favorite project during the semester was the Unit 4 Video story project. I had the most fun with this one and I enjoyed actually filming and editing my own videos by myself. It was a very fun topic that I enjoyed. Coming into this course I had no technology skills so I was very nervous. I actually had a thought in my mind that this course was going to be very challenging for me, and at time is was. Getting through the tutorials was definitely one of the most challenging things throughout the course that took a lot of patience. After completely this course I learned how to do so much from all the different tools I learned, which I can definitely use later with my major. I am planning on doing Public Relations with my career path. With this career path I could use the Adobe apps when creating things for a business possibly which would be very helpful. There is no skill that I really wanted to learn since I came into the class originally not knowing anything. I wouldn’t say I found any website useful, but I would say that exploring the different Adobe apps I really enjoyed. Now that I know how to use them all I can use them with anything! For my final comment, I just wanted to say that this was one of the most enjoyable classes I have taken that at the same time taught me a lot of helpful things that I can actual use in the future.
When first starting my Video Story I wanted to have a very descriptive narrative that went along with the videos that I took. I wanted my videos to be very straight forward and also relate to my topic. I wanted my topic choice to be clear throughout the video, and I wanted to use many transitions in order to make my Video Story more entertaining to watch.
From the feedback I received back, it was mostly good. Someone mentioned to maybe take new videos, so the background would relate to my topic more. Another person suggested having a smoother beginning to the video, and many encouraged me to add music throughout the whole video.
When making my revisions I took everyone’s ideas to mind. I decided to instead film my videos at the Recreation Center on Washington State’s campus, to have stronger footage that related to my topic more. I really enjoyed making this change to the video, and I thought it did overall make it stronger. This was one of my major changes I did. Other than that, I cut my audio to make it sound more clear and adjusted the volume. I also used different transitions instead of using the same one every time. One thing I did change my mind about was adding the music. I really wanted to do this and I even downloaded a song on youtube audio files and when I included in my video I didn’t like how it sounded. I felt with the music added you couldn’t focus on the narrative part as well, and I really wanted my narrative part to get the most focus.
Overall, I am very happy with my overall Video Story, the feedback I got was very helpful in making changes, and I thought by taking new videos it did make my Video Story a lot stronger.
For my Draft Video Story I wanted to create a Narrative that described what was happening in the video and also added more detail to why this was happening. I filmed the videos from my iPhone in one of the rooms in my house. For my final draft I would like to get actual footage of Grace at the gym, but edit and incorporate the videos that same way. What inspired me to make my video this way was in the second Premiere Tutorial we did. We had to create a narrative of Murrow Hall which I really enjoyed and wanted to create something similar. My Draft Video Story includes my friend and what is important to her in her healthy lifestyle. I included her doing different steps in her workout routine. I also included a video of her waving in the beginning to introduce the person who is in my video, and also a video at the end to conclude the video. I thought concluding the video with her and a good inspirational message from her would be an impactful way to end the video. I cut the videos so they would go along with the narrative as well has adding transitions so it added a greater effect to the overall video. After editing and finishing my video I wanted to add music in the beginning and end of the video, as well as it quietly playing throughout the video. This is where I struggled. I couldn’t directly put music from my iTunes in the video, so I decided to go without it. For my final draft I definitely want to figure out that aspect, as I think it would improve my video. I would also like to improve my footage and take longer videos so I have more to work with and can edit them differently.

In my original draft story I included a Narrative of me talking about my topic, as well as an interview of my friend talking about her experience that was similar to my experience. That has always been my idea process for this project. My first thought was that I wanted to do more interviews with people that had similar stories, but finding multiple people to interview was a struggle. After receiving my feedback I had to make many changes. I had to cut the parts out where there was no talking and random background noise which it sound more put together. I also decided to recreate and re-record my whole narrative part and the beginning of my interview to make it sound more uplifting, because my voice was more monotone and boring in my first draft. I wanted it to overall sound more of like a podcast rather than it sounding very scripted. In order to do this I just spoke from my mind and my thoughts to make it sound more natural instead of writing a whole script. I chose to keep the same narrative part because I thought it was strong useful information. I wanted to find more people to interview but I couldn’t because it was hard to find people that had a similar story, even though I did think that more interviews would have been more useful. I also decided that I wanted to include the chime noise in the beginning as more of a “starting noise” to my podcast, and also at the end I wanted to use the same noise to make it a concluding point. Overall, with this project I thought that my draft was a lot different from my final draft. I made improvements from my last one, even small improvements such as the cut outs that made my final audio story stronger.
In my Draft Audio Story I wanted to give to viewpoints of my topic. I started out with a Narrative of myself explaining my topic and personal experience I have with my topic to make it more clear to my listeners. I also talked about my topic and the meaning of it while also explaining its importance. After my narrative I did an interview with my friend Grace Sypher who also has struggled with a similar experience. Grace explained how she had to transition, and what it was like for her. I decided to include an interview aspect because I thought it would make my story stronger with 2 different views. I also chose to design my project with me talking first and then my friend so it would first explain, and then make the second example stronger. I added the two chime sound affects to the beginning of both speech fragments to separate them and to also know when they are beginning. I felt that his aspect was needed to draw more attention. For my final draft, I do want to touch up my narrative part because I do feel like it can be stronger and more detailed.

When first beginning my design process, including the sketches, I always envisioned that I wanted something simple and to the point, but also very appealing to the eye. With that idea in mind, I decided to design a logo that involved the letter “H” for the main idea of my topic which is having a healthy lifestyle. I then decided to include a text box that contained the word “lifestyle” which also goes along with my topic. I then turned the text box into a banner using illustrator and I uses a flag effect to make it more catching to the eye. I also decided to make the color of the banner green to represent healthy “green” foods. I was very happy with my logo draft, and the feedback I got to improve it helped me even more. Most of the feedback I received was about making minor improvements and polishing it up. My text was very hard to read, and my banner points were just a little off. With this feedback the revisions I made were to my text to make it still eye catching but also very easy to read and understand. I also changed the banner length to match up better, and to polish it more. Another thing I decided to change was the font of the “H”. I changed it to more of a cursive “H”. I did this because I liked how it looked like it flowed with the banner, and to me it looked more pleasing to the eye. Overall, I really enjoyed my Final Logo Design and I think it goes very well and represents my topic.
